I don't plan on nursing; can I continue to wear LilyPadz® as my milk dries up?
Yes, LilyPadz® can be worn continuously without feeding or expressing milk. You may experience some discomfort initially as with any weaning situation, but this zero demand triggers your body to regulate its milk supply down and eventually dry up.

Can LilyPadz® be used with lanolin?

Can LilyPadz® be used with lanolin?
Yes, lanolin can be used safely with LilyPadz®, although most moms find less of a need for it with LilyPadz®. LilyPadz® help to maintain proper moisture balance in the breast tissue, neither bathing it in milk nor allowing it to dry out and chafe the way cotton pads can. LilyPadz® also protect against rubbing and won't stick to colostrum or healing fluids the way cotton pads do. So all in all you should be less likely to become injured. Because lanolin is oily by nature it may interfere with LilyPadz® ability to adhere to you, so we recommend applying only to the nipple and areola (leaving the edges to still adhere) and wearing them with good support to avoid slippage.

Will the special lining wear out?
Unlike adhesives that wash away, the tacky lining of LilyPadz® is renewed with washing. Washing daily using an oil cutting soap is important. The use of hot water while lathering the tacky surfaces ensures effective removal of lint and oils that interfere with your LilyPadz® ability to stick. Always rinse well and air dry only.

LilyWash® is specially formulated to prolong the use of your LilyPadz® and is the only recommended daily cleanser. LilyWipes™ are a quick, convenient way to occasionally clean your LilyPadz® in between feedings while on the go. They are not designed to take the place of washing daily with LilyWash®.

How do I know what size to get?

How do I know what size to get?
There are two key differences between the Regular and Large LilyPadz®. First, the Large LilyPadz® are a little larger in diameter (about .5 inch) than the Regular. Second, the Large are a flatter shape (less concave) than the Regular. With those differences the Large size is more apt to fit the larger, fuller breast. We suggest the Large LilyPadz are a best fit for women who are size DD or larger.

Tips and User's Guide - Application and Use Instructions

Tips and User's Guide - Application and Use Instructions
When and how do I use LilyPadz®?
You can use LilyPadz® whenever you need leakage protection or to accommodate strapless/braless clothing styles. Every woman's body is different, and milk production varies from woman to woman. It may take some time for your milk supply to regulate before LilyPadz® is completely effective against leakage. After the adjustment period, success with LilyPadz® is largely determined by proper application.

How do I apply the LilyPadz®? 1. Peel the soft silicone LilyPadz® from the product holders (round hard plastic domes) before use. Keep product holder to store your LilyPadz® on when not in use.

2. Flip your LilyPadz® tacky side bowed out toward the skin (inverted).

3. With a finger in the center, firmly depress the nipple.

4. With nipple in flattened position, smooth the edges of the LilyPadz® down over the skin, making sure to smooth out any air pockets from forming underneath.

Where should I put my LilyPadz while feeding? Your LilyPadz® can be stored on the plastic domes used in packaging. This keeps the tacky surface clean and ready to go again. However, when on the go, it is convenient, discrete and sanitary to simply place the removed pad toward the cleavage area of the opposite breast (outside the bra on the skin) when feeding.

Can I sterilize my LilyPadz®? Yes, Lilypadz® can be disinfected by soaking in a 50/50 white vinegar/water solution for one hour followed by thoroughly washing with LilyWash® and rinsed well with warm water (see cleaning instructions). Under normal circumstances, washing daily as directed is sufficient and sanitary to prevent foreign particles from affecting the LilyPadz® surfaces. Breastfeeding complications, such as thrush, have been shown to occur less frequently with LilyPadz® but should you have a question or concern, please consult your health care professional for recommendations.

Tips and User's Guide – Troubleshooting

Tips and User's Guide – Troubleshooting
Why is milk pooling underneath the LilyPadz®? The key to success with Lilypadz® is for them to hold more pressure on the nipple than the opposing force of the milk in the breast pressing outward. This pressure is established during application; therefore application is the first area to address in troubleshooting.

When applying, a firm depression of the nipple is necessary, avoiding airspaces, prior to smoothing the Lilypadz® edges out over the breast. (see application instructions – link) Some women find that waiting for the nipple to soften, or massaging the nipple flat helps. Others find that pulling the breast tissue back so that it is taut around the nipple helps. No two women are built alike. Some experimentation may be necessary to find what works best for you. In the meantime, if a liquid bubble forms, remove the Lilypadz® from the bottom and use a burp cloth to catch any leakage.

Physiologic issues are another consideration in troubleshooting. Again, no two women respond or adjust their milk supply the same. The supply and demand relationship can take some time to equilibrate. Heavier leakage and the associated leakage problems are often isolated and situation dependent. Early on, milk is in abundance, as is the case with missed feedings, resulting in the need for greater pressure to stop the leak. This increased pressure becomes generally unnecessary as milk supply equilibrates with time. Occasionally, it takes time to simply adjust to the LilyPadz. If your body is accustomed to leaking excess milk into a pad it may take a few days to regulate. A snug undergarment (seamless with no gapping works well) or even pressure from your forearm on the opposite breast when feeding will often do the trick until you equilibrate.
